Jessica Sequeira is an author and literary translator. Her books of poetry, novels, and essays include Taal, Golden Jackal, A Furious Oyster, Rhombus and Oval, Other Paradises, and A Luminous History of the Palm Tree. She has translated over thirty books by Latin American authors, including Augusto Monterroso, Daniel Guebel, Winétt de Rokha, Teresa Wilms Montt, and Gabriela Mistral. She holds a PhD in Latin American Studies from the University of Cambridge, where she researched the influence of India on the poetics of Latin American writers, and is currently a postdoctoral researcher at the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile. She also sets poetry to music and performs it with Latin American and Asian rhythms as part of the group Lux Violeta.
