I'll keep on writing just like the first time with that perseverance and frustration from when you learn your ABC cursive long division. I'll keep doing it and I'll sing with the voice of the mother I never was the lightning between my teeth and the patience of putting a child to sleep. I won't ask questions, I'll give you my own in the hope of being fulfilled to solve the mystery of why we are not together.

Busqué en los rincones tiempos verbales en desuso con ellos nombré la ausencia acerqué los ojos a las hendijas cada ventanita, ay, qué línea, qué línea. Un soplo de sazón me quiso completa y de pronto los pájaros de mi corazón ya no se encuentran en el pasado.
The Year of Writing
I searched in the corners for old verb tenses with them I named the absence brought my eyes closer to the cracks each little window, oh, the line, that line. A breath of savour wanted me complete and now the birds of my heart are no longer found in the past.

María Belén Corso (Buenos Aires, 1993) holds a Degree in Visual Arts from the Universidad Nacional de las Artes, where she also serves as a professor. She coordinates the Literary Series at the Universidad Nacional de La Matanza, where she teaches oral storytelling classes for seniors. She has published Pétalo Nocturno (Alción, 2020), Desperté y fue verano(Gerania, 2023), and Pájaro nácar(El Elefante negro, 2026).
Ignacio Oliden (Buenos Aires, 1997) is a poet, translator, and literary critic. He is an editor at La Piccioletta Barca and sits on the editorial committee of the Buenos Aires Poetry journal and press. Additionally, he writes literary criticism for Perfil’s cultural supplement. He is the author of Poetas del Renacimiento de Harlem (2023, with Juan Arabia) and Mester de Juglaría (2024). Some of his poems have been translated into English, Greek, and Italian. His recent work includes a collaboration for the volume Jugar con espejos: Ensayos sobre la traducción de culturas asiáticas en Latinoamérica (Editorial Noctámbula & Centro de Estudios Asiáticos UC, 2025).
