Hunting
The recent claw print in the butter appeared because
the night rain sent us relief and found something
both wondering and exploring a door
left open all night. It wasn't human
but the dream was equally absurd,
about a coyote, an undog, or something that sleeps
to kill time. Nowhere the cameras do not see,
night cameras—an X-ray truth, chilled, frosty,
and unfair. So, does the dog living in the house
have a better life than its predator self
or are we hunters happier when glued to screens?
