Deep, deep rolling mountains & other poems

Belly full, sky dull

Belly full, sky dull
writing is fun, playing in the sun
salt smells and figs and olives
Mare Nostrum calls my name
I feel my body sinking;
the water cradle my limbs
the drops evaporate in the sunlight
and all that was left was her golden skin, crackling
crackling and burning
ambers thrown from fires

The friend leaves

The friend leaves
And comes the despair
She whispered into Clara's ear:
'don't go away just yet'.
She closed the window & stared in nostalgia
& went back to baking her pie
smiling at the grasshopper out the window
staring, one second too, too long
it winks back
Long lashes shading a longing stare
I wink back at it
A grin escapes from my lips
I like winning, and I think they noticed.

Cherry blossom trees miss spring

Cherry blossom trees miss spring
Blossoms that sway and fall far too soon
Screaming children on the branches, imagined spaces
'Come quick, the floor is lava'
And bring the fedora with you.

Deep, deep rolling mountains

Deep, deep rolling mountains
She digs her fingers in the soil until her nails blacken
'I'm not dead, yet,' she thinks.
And I am yet to be born
And once I do, all shall be erased.

Blue, red, blue, red, blue, red

Blue, red, blue, red, blue, red
the sirens rang in the empty streets,
running feet & sweaty air
where did the peaceful dinners go?
Down the drain, date seeds grow
plastic thrown in incorrect basins
Greta Thunberg would be angry
Private jets lighting up the skies
Do away with the poor!
Eat the rich, if only.
I am sure they're nutritious
But sadly for the people, hunger it is.
