Blue vibrations

Blue vibrations

Talking on the phone near my PC’s speakers,
tried to play some chill-out music after –
“Something blue” by Hiroshi Yoshimura.
Sounded like it was possessed,
ghosts talking from beyond the grave.
Had to turn the speakers off and on again,
then they went away.
People’s heads are full of old noise,
stale static –
things they wanted to say but didn’t,
things they shouldn’t have said but did.
Then there’s the voices that don’t sound like you,
but they know you inside out –
you want to die,
they’re happy to help.
It’s hard to find the off switch in the dark,
but that’s how you save yourself
from drowning in white noise –
wake up to the sound of something blue.
