Sneha Alexander

Raised in rural Shropshire, the wooded landscapes of the Midlands are imprinted on her psyche. She often begins work by sketching outside and then manipulating abstract shape that appear in this process. In work Woodland Series, such a shape flows through the prints to become intertwined locks of hair, waving legs and their reflection, a fish, a bulb and flowing reeds. Similarly, her print installation Spore draws attention to the textures of tree bark and the striations on mushrooms’ caps as a starting point for imagined woodland scenes.
