By day Joanne Furio is an award-winning journalist who covers art, culture and books at Berkeleyside, the online news platform in Berkeley, California. By night she plows her trade as a writer of creative nonfiction. Her personal essays, flash and author interviews have appeared in Believer, Catapult, Juked, Panoply and, most recently, the university print journals Weber: The Contemporary West, Changing Skies Journal and Via: A Journal of Italian-Americana. She also teaches creative writing through the Sarah Lawrence Writing Institute and is a member of the San Francisco Writers Grotto.
