Alexia Marmara

Alexia Marmara is a researcher, curator, archivist and artist specialising in uncovering the uncelebrated. She focuses on stories that are left untold in an effort to correct bias in narratives within the history of art and culture, defying the drawbacks in our institutionalised systems of remembering and collecting. She is the instigator of the excavation of Mexican painter Froylán Ojeda (1932-1991) whose significant career has been practically erased from contemporary discourse. Working with oral histories and archival investigation she is the first researcher to begin compiling a written biography of the artist’s life and œuvre. This project has received support from the Jonathan Ruffer Curatorial Research Grant.
