Beyond the Sun-Drenched Roadside

Beyond the sun-drenched roadside
Past snowy caps and barren lands
Lies a small stone cottage
Nestled in the midst of a swaying glade

Here night
Without darkness falls
The moon dawning
With the setting of the sun

Cast when in silver when in gold
Only the stars retain their hue
Against the ever-changing sky

And we with bated breath await
Lest in our eagerness
the cold glass we cloud

Note: The above poem builds upon R.M. Rilke's 'Along the Sun-Drenched Roadside'
